Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel announced

EA recently announced a new sequel to the Army of Two franchice; The Devil’s Cartel. This is the third installment of the co-op heavy third person action game and it’s slated for March 2013.

This time the game is developed by Visceral Games (the studio famous for the Dead Space franchise) and will utilize the Frostbite 2.0 engine, so far this all sounds very promising! The main two characters in the game are called Alpha and Bravo, who find themselves in the middle of a Mexican drug war, a bummer indeed. EA has not given many details  for the sequel yet but there will be split-screen co-op (maybe 4 players this time?) and shiny new character customization options. The overall tone is also said to be more intense, mature, and gritter.

Julian Beak, executive producer gave this statement:

We wanted to refresh the Army of Two franchise for a new generation of action gamers, and at the same time, stay true to the core concept that really made the first two games fan favorites. With meaningful, seamless co-op gameplay at its core and explosive new tag-team features, gamers will have to work together tactically and strategically as they push through a city dominated by one of Mexico’s deadliest drug cartels.

Steve Papoutsis, general manager added:

Our goal with Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel is to apply our key design principles – immersive, challenging gameplay, intense narrative and focus on quality – to help improve a franchise we feel has always had a lot of potential

Man, I need a co-op partner cause I have both the previous games and only played bits of them cause I know I’m missing out without someone else. I feel so lonely.
