Guerrilla Games is bringing mercenaries to the Vita

There have long been rumors of a Killzone Vita and earlier today, Sony unveiled Killzone: Mercenary. The game will be an exclusive first-person shooter “not possible on any other platform”.

The live action trailer had it’s premiere during the Sony panel at today’s Gamescom. In it you meet the character Justus Harkin, and of course the Helghast. The trailer also shows off how the Vita controls can be used for things like back-stabbing.

I’m not so sure about the touch functionality, but minor stuff like melee combat as they show in the trailer is fine by me, grabbing the “rear touch” though can be quite a hassle (no pun intended). Vita is getting some really great announcements lately!

I find the touch stuff a bit annoying, cause you’re kinda putting your finger/hand in the way of everything. I know the Vita is all about it, I just figure just because the game is on Vita doesn’t mean you HAVE to have touch functionality. Uncharted totally abused it.

I Absolutely agree, I think the approach taken by MM in Tearaway is great for a quirky and fun game, but in a shooter where you’re focused on the action, i highly doubt it. Minigames and stuff is where I think they should use the touch functionality, if even that.
