Since its announcement in 2009, we’ve been looking forward to meeting The Last Guardian, but to no avail. Fumito Ueda has left Sony since the announcement, but he’s contracted with Sony until he finishes the game. Speculations have been that one of Sony’s North American studios also has been working on the title, and that the game has moved focus to a PS4 launch. But Shuhei Yoshida denies this, confirming that the game is still coming to the PS3.
An unnamed developer stopped by at TGS, and when asked he gave his word that it exists and that “We are working on it.” Furthermore, he confirms that the title is still in Japanese hands. He also pointed out that The Last Guardian was probably announced too early and that it’s a “very ambitious project”.
The Sony developer added that Sony becomes more reluctant to talk about games as they near launch, hinting at The Last Guardian being right around the corner.
“There are lots of pieces of the puzzle,” he said. “It’s a matter of getting them to fit together.”
I actually wouldn’t mind if they pushed it to PS4… Maybe those “technical issues” are new hardware related problems :)
I agree 100%. With new hardware just around the corner, they might as well.
Nah. I want this to be the PS3 swansong just like SOTC was. Only with less frame rate issues.
That would be awesome, but presumably the PS4 and Xbox (whatever) are coming next holiday. And if it’s not released sometime before that, I’m afraid it might get lost in all the hoopla. T_T And that’s if it is released next year. If it doesn’t then what’s the point of releasing it on PS3 after the PS4 is out??? So much uncertainty… I’m really sad now… Thanks Baj…
I guess I don’t mind either way. It’s just that we have waited this long, might as well wait even longer… Hmm, maybe they have it working with a Vita where you can control the big bird-thing with it, and the other player is controlling the boy? That might be pretty epic.
