Oh May 5th, you silly date. So far away, right? As if the wait for The Last of Us alone isn’t enough, they had to go and announce a bunch of fancy editions for people on both sides of the giant pond.
Europe
So if you’re European you can go ahead and pre-order either the Joel or the Ellie edition. Except a few key differences, they both contain The Art of The Last of Us as well as The Last of Us: American Dreams Issue #1. Both are made by Dark Horse in collaboration with Naughty Dog. The editions are also themed to one of the characters meaning that you’ll get either Joel or Ellie packaging, Dualshock 3 skin and a LittleBigPlanet costume so you better decide your favorite soon. The two DLC packs included are divided between multiplayer and good old fashioned goodies. The multiplayer DLC will give you bonus XP and in-game currency among other things, while the Sights & Sounds DLC Pack includes the soundtrack, a theme and avatars. Time to switch out that ancient XMB background of yours. One of these will cost you £59.99/€79.99/AU$114.95.
North America
The Survival Edition is pretty much the same as the European sans the multiplayer pack and it’s not character themed. You will also get a steelbook edition of the game featuring Joel and Ellie on their respective sides. The gold nugget here though is the Post-Pandemic Edition retailing at $149.99. It includes a 12” Premium Statue of Joel and Ellie made by the fine folks over at Project Triforce, which makes me as a European pretty grumpy. Just throwing that out there, Sony. The Post-Pandemic Edition is a Gamestop exclusive while the Survival Edition is available anywhere for $79.99.
