You have to love the guy. Michael Pachter is known for making wacky predictions but this time he might be on to something! At a presentation at SXSW 2013 (an annual music, film and interactive conference and festival held in Austin) he made a bold statement about the future of the PlayStation 4. He thinks the PS4 will outsell it’s predecessor by about 20 million units.

How the hell does this guy get so much attention? Constantly changing predictions, to not backing up his statements with evidence and at times being blatently incorrect. He’s just basing the sales on a hyped up PS4 presentation by Sony. That makes him as professional as a 12 year old
Most current trends suggest it will sell less. One of them testified by nearly all media. PS4 is now in a market with several extra competitors. Combined with a tighter budget for most consumers. From a specs point of view, PS4 is less a signifigant gaming jump than PS3
Give or take, PS3 has only just caught up to its competitors from a financial and sales point.
So who wants to explain where this guy gets his predictions from, why does he get recognition and what employer would think this guy deserves a pay-check??
