In-game purchases suffer the fate of the Death Star in Battlefront II

To say that the whole thing in itself went a little hot there for a moment is an understatement, and now EA has – until further notice- turned off all in-game purchases in Star Wars: Battlefront II. It’s been a disaster since day one, including famous character unlocks being under-priced during review events, to loot boxes, pay-to-win structures and a grind that demanded some serious dedication if you even hoped to put a dent to it. Earlier this week characters like Vader and Luke had their in-game currency prices cut by a whopping 75%.

All progression is now earned through gameplay, and that will get tuned as well over time.

We hear you loud and clear, so we’re turning off all in-game purchases. We will now spend more time listening, adjusting, balancing and tuning. This means that the option to purchase crystals in the game is now offline, and all progression will be earned through gameplay. The ability to purchase crystals in-game will become available at a later date, only after we’ve made changes to the game. We’ll share more details as we work through this.Electronic Arts

Let’s not do that again, shall we?
