The LEGO Movie Videogame for PS4 will cast players as average minifigure Emmet, who due to a series of unfortunate events has somehow become viewed as the only person able to save the world. pro

Lego Movie is the most Lego of all the Lego games so far. Everything is made of Legos, most of it can be destroyed and occasionally you will build proper Lego machinery using proper in-game Lego bricks. The only thing missing is a PlayStation controller made of Legos to play with. The presentation in the menus is like flipping through an instruction book. This is great, but also a bit childish, which is also great.

pro

I haven't been a huge fan of the choice to use voice overs in the last few games, but much like the movie, all these one-liners and jokes work great in this game. It helps that this experience is tailored to this universe. Some might think it's too much, and don't blame me if you can't get "Everything is awesome!" out of your mind. Yeah, I know.

pro

As with each iteration of these games, they keep looking better. Granted the material here is literally Lego, it looks sharp and great. The stop-motion cut scenes win the show though, they are pretty amazing.

con

It's not as a meaty a game as you might be used to with prior console Lego games. Red bricks are almost thrown at you, and during your completion you will only have to find around 70 gold bricks compared to 250 in the bigger games. Characters and extras are fewer in numbers and cheaper in cost. While the hub and story levels are fine, Lego Movie ultimately feels a bit underwhelming and rushed, which makes sense when it had to coincide with the release of the movie.

con

Even though it contains 96 characters, pretty much none of these are interesting. You need to be a huge fan of the core Lego experience to appreciate most them, and that's why you will also find Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern as a part of the roster.
