Sony drops online support for Gran Turismo 5, Resistance and more next year

Hey, it’s normal. Time flies, new games arrive, we move on. But shutting down online support for Gran Turismo 5 as early as May next year seem a bit hasty to me. It’s probably a way to transition people to Gran Turismo 6, but that doesn’t make any less premature in my opinion. I don’t have the online statistics of GT5, so let’s imagine for a moment that the numbers suck and that’s why. The exact date you will have to have in mind if you want to do anything particular online in the game is May 20th

Other games getting their chord axed next year are all three of the Resistance games, so if you want those online trophies in Resistance 2 you better get a move on; the shutdown is March 28th. MAG, SOCOM: Special Forces and SOCOM: Confrontation will lose their online capabilities January 28th, which means that MAG and SOCOM: Confrontation will be completely useless as they offer no offline mode.
