Dungeon of Naheulbeuk is a humorous spin on the RPG/Dungeon crawler formula

So far Dungeon of Naheulbeuk has only been available as audio books in french, so if your french is a little rusty you might have missed out. These days the series is sprawling its wings into other formats like board games and an animated show, but a video game version is also under development and will be presented during Gamescom next week. The game is being developed by Artefacts Studio and point-and-click-adventure-game-powerhouse Microïds, more known for their fantastic Syberia games.

At its core Dungeon of Naheulbeuk is an RPG dungeon crawler with turn-based combat. What sets it apart from other similar titles though is the tongue-in-cheek approach to the genre where stereotypical characters like the elf, dwarf and barbarian are being made fun of, and the exploration and battles are sprinkled with fun dialogue.

Personally I have never listened to the audio books, but if this turns out to be actually funny I’m all for it.
