What You Played 16

There comes a time in your life where you have to sit down and just ask someone: What did you play? Every now and then we’ll do just that. We will harass innocent gamers so you can take a sneak peak into what people spent their gaming hours on. Their steamy gaming habits and guilty pleasures.

This week we asked three people – some staff – some strangers, and I was not surprised to learn that they had actually been playing some good old games. There hasn’t been any huge games out lately, so maybe people are spending some time revisiting old gems or just cleaning out their backlog. For whatever reason, this is what they played.

Lars from Norway (Zealows PSMania profile)
PSM: So what exactly did you play?
Lars: Borderlands coop + solo and Saints Row 3
PSM: While I personally LOVE Borderlands, what got you into it? Why now?
Lars: Well I started on PC, then I started on PS3, went back to PC and then, well, back to PS3. Basically I played the first quarter of the game 4 times.
PSM: It’s a good thing it’s a good game then? Looking forward to Borderlands 2?
Lars: Oh hell yeah!
PSM: What makes Borderlands the funfest it is?
Lars: I’d say the loot, the rpg elements and the fact that it matters where you hit your enemies. Like critical damage for a headshot. It’s really good for an rpg shooter.

Zach from Kansas
PSM: Hi! What’s cooking? Having fun with the Vita?
Zach: I’ve actually been playing more GTA IV than the Vita, but for Vita I have played MLB 12 The Show and Unit 13
PSM: MLB 12, huh? So are you a sports nut or is this just casually playing a sports game?
Zach: Definitely a baseball fan. Kansas City Royals fan at that.
PSM: Nice! Did you try out the cross play features yet?
Zach: Sadly, no.
PSM: So what brought you back to GTA IV? I assume this isn’t the first time you play it?
Zach: The multiplayer and playing with friends. Which is kinda the same thing :)
PSM: Do you feel the game still stacks up compared to current titles? It’s easy to get more reflective on the games pros and cons after a while of not playing it.
Zach: There’s good things and there’s bad things, but do I still find it fun? I would say yes!

Marcus from Sweden (dFUSEs PSMania profile)
PSM: I see a controller in your hand. What’s up?
Marcus: A lot! Resident Evil 5, Hot Shots Golf World Invitational, Happy Feet Two, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Journey.
PSM: Oh my, that is a lot. Any title in particular that stands out?
Marcus: Definitely Resident Evil 5. Playing coop with a buddy, and finding the slow pace really refreshing.
PSM: Did you play any previous RE games?
Marcus: No, I haven’t played any of the earlier ones actually. Reading about 6 now makes me kinda sad that you’re able to run and gun.
PSM: Journey is getting rave reviews, even I gave it a 10. Did the game pull through for you in regards to expectations?
Marcus: Yes. That and more. I got really emotional playing it. For some reason I wanted to experience the game by myself on the first playthrough, so I played offline much like you would play Flower. Have yet to play it online though so that’s on my to-do list for next week!
