Dark Horse Comics and Naughty Dog announced on Comic Con that they are making a graphic novel based on The Last of Us. Spontaneous reaction: Sweet! The 4 part mini-series will be called The Last of Us: American Dreams and tell the story of Ellie and her friend Riley. They’re growing up in a post-apocalyptic world in one of the last quarantined zones left in the world.
The comics will be written by Naughty Dog designer Neil Druckman and contributing author Rachel Edidin. Dark Horse Comics also announced they’ll be publishing the official artbook for The Last of Us containg illustrations, character concepts and post-apocalyptic eye candy. Do want!
Neil Druckman talked about what’s it like growing up in the post apocalyptic world of The Last of Us:
“In Ellie’s world, when you enter into its version of middle school, you can either choose to become a soldier and go out and fight, or you can say no and go out to fend for yourself with the other survivors, those are the two ways a teenager can live in this world. Ellie believes there is a third way.”
The Last of Us: American Dreams will be out on the streets in early 2013, hopefully we’ll also be able to download it on PSN.
