Get to know us

After a few days on the air, it’s great to see that nobody has died in some horrific accident straight from Final Destination. The staff is watching stats, looking for bugs and taking a “puhwee-finally”-break before we get our groove on. Our relaxed approach to all of this is why we can allow ourselves that break; we haven’t done any PR for the site other than create a twitter account and a facebook page. We’re like the evil dude plotting in the background before he suddenly emerges and takes over the world. Only with less manic laughter. But we’re keeping the cat.

Anyway. I’m here to give you a brief introduction to the site – including current features and how *you* can help us expand our little corner of the internet. Feedback is hugely appreciated, and we will do our best not only to take it to heart and discuss it, but we will also reply to you and whatever you have to say. With that said, here are some of the things you might stumble over.

Games
We got games. Oh, have we got games. While writing this we have information on 1457 games, spanning across the PlayStation 3 and the Vita. They can be filtered by platform, date and region. We also have trophies and trophy guides, as well as yummy eyecandy like trailers and more than 13.000 screenshots. Adding all of this has been a team effort by the staff, but we have made it possible for anyone to contribute. More information on how you can help out with this will be made available later, but suffice to say that regular users with a bit of dedication are eligible to be promoted. While checking out your favorite games you will also be able to see related games and other games from the same developer. If a review is available, you will also be able to read this on the gamepage.

Trophies

Trophies are available for most of the games that support them, and each game is by default presented with a list of trophies. Clicking a trophy will take you to a page where you can rate its difficulty and submit tips on how to acquire it. As a registered user you can rate its difficulty and you can also submit tips for any given trophy. This is a great way to contribute to other trophycollectors out there that might need help to get particular one. By recommending tips, the community will decide which tips work the best. Once a trophy has reached a sufficient amount of tips, you can generate a PDF Trophy Guide to print, or to send to a device of your choosing.

Profile
On your profile you will find info about yourself, your top rated games and your game collection. Statistics on your activity is also available. If you enter your SENID – formerly known as PSNID – your profile will also track your trophy count (don’t forget to sync!). Features regarding your profile will be expanded upon in a not so distant future. If you have any ideas or wishes that you want to see implemented, don’t be shy about contacting us.

Miscellaneous
Our front page greets you with a lot of things. Featured articles at the top, current and upcoming games and our latest trophies. You also get our aggregated news from a lot of good sources. If you find your news at the bottom and you don’t like it, please let us know and we’ll remove it. If you run a site and want your news to be a part of our feed, do tell us. You can contact us at team (at) psmania.net.

To customize your experience a bit we have included themes. Our latest and greatest can be found in the footer; the rest by selecting the “Themes”-tab in the menu, which is placed smack in the middle of two other great tabs. One is “Hardware”; selecting this will show you a page which shows you available systems, accessories as well as a whole range of bundles available with some basic information. The other is “Activity”, where you’ll find a livestream of what’s happening on the site. Whenever games, trophies, media and changess are added to a game it will be announced in the stream. The same happens whenever you get new trophies, rate or add a game to your collection, rate trophies and write updates. To write an update, just hover the profile link in the header and add your thoughts in the box that appears.

Now what?
And while you’re looking at the header, please take note of the feedback link. We urge you to use it. Is a game missing? Is the information wrong? Do you have awesome suggestions for new features? Found a bug? Need to vent? Want to ask us something? Feedback is brilliant and we’re dying to get it, so please don’t be shy. We will try our best to reply to every feedback received, and as mentioned earlier we will discuss any suggestion we get no matter how stupid or amazing.

We hope you enjoy your visit. We hope you register and that you come back to share. Share comments, suggestions, tips or just rate that game a 10/10 ’cause you love it to death. Feel free to visit our facebook page, and tweet us something while you’re at it. In the meantime we’ll do our best to make this a good place to hang out, create new interesting features and generally be really, really happy.
